My Skincare Routine

My skin is something that I would get a lot of compliments on. My family has quite good skin anyway but since I was 14, I’ve been really taking care of it. Today I’m going to go through my routine but I’m not going to mention any specific brands to use.

This is for two reasons. The first is that no one has paid me to promote their brand and I think they should. I’m not going to advertise for free. Also, I don’t really use any specific brands when it comes to skincare. I think it’s good to circulate a range of products at a time. I usually have about five moisturisers and all the other things I’m going to talk about today from a lot of different brands. I use different ones every day because I think these products work best when you keep switching them up if that makes sense.

Micellar water.

I think micellar water is the best cleanser that you can use and I use it every morning. I apply a generous amount of it to a cotton pad and cleanse my entire face and neck with it. Cleansing is so so important before you moisturise. It keeps your skin clear and healthy. I’ve been cleansing every day for about 2 years now and I never really have break-outs.

Toner.

Some people think toners are unnecessary but I love using them. Again I think they give you that really clean, smooth feeling and they usually smell really nice. They get rid of any dirt left behind from cleansing too which is good. I apply a generous amount to a cotton pad and wipe it on my face and neck.

Day cream.

If you don’t have a day cream I would 100% recommend that you go out and get yourself one. They are so important for having good skin. I prefer to use anti-ageing cream because I think it works so much better. It’s a obviously a little bit more expensive but I think it does a way better job than your everyday one. I also try and get one with a good SPF too. SPF is important even if it isn’t sunny. The worst thing for your skin is the sun. I put the cream on my face, neck and my décolletage. It’s so important not to forget your décolletage as the skin there is the same as on your face and neck.

Eye cream.

Now I buy any eye creams as I think they all essentially do the same thing. Sometimes I’ll also buy wrinkle fillers which I’ll put around my eyes to smooth and plump the area. I discovered eye cream a bit later than the other things I bought but I love it. It’s honestly a life saver when you’re like me and you get no sleep.

So that’s my daily skin routine which I’ll do every morning before I leave the house. Obviously it takes some time out of my morning but because I don’t wear make-up, I actually have the time to do it. I would definitely recommend finding a skincare routine that suits you and sticking to it because it is important. Boy, girl or anything else, you’re going to want to have good skin at the end of the day.

There are some other products that I would use quite regularly.

Night cream.

This is quite an important tool for your skin. I have a few different types of night cream that I’ll use about 3 or 4 times a week before bed. The reason I don’t put them on every night is that I think it makes my skin go kind of oily if I use it all the time. But that’s just my personal preference.

Exfoliant.

Once or twice a week I’ll also exfoliate my face. I use quite a cheap exfoliating scrub and I just keep it in the shower. I think it does help buff away impurities but if you overuse it, it can kind of ruin your skin. I would keep it at twice a week maximum depending on your skin type.

I’m not one for getting my 8 hours of sleep every night and I don’t have a good diet. However, I am so rigid about my skincare routine and getting 3 or 4 litres of water into me a day and it does pay off. I don’t really ever have to wear make-up because I’m always happy with the way my skin looks and that has been really good for me.

So there you have it. That is all of my skincare wisdom.
