Now that I’ve made my ebook “Who Cares? Life for an Irish Transgender Teen” free to the public (you can download the full thing here), I’ve decided to publish the chapters here on my website. Below is a chapter from this book which was published in April 2016.

I am blessed. Do I say that enough? Probably not. Especially not to my family. I am blessed to have a really decent family in my life. I was born into a remarkable support network of intelligent, witty and wonderful role models. I owe them everything. I love each and every member of my family dearly and I know for a fact that I don’t tell them that enough.

Family-Interaction Two.

I stop at the foot of the long winding driveway and stare at the large yellow house. I don’t get to come here nearly as often as I’d like to and that’s a huge pity. But that’s one of the sacrifices I’ve had to make in order to live in Dublin full time. The multitude of animals that usually greet me are nowhere to be seen. I don’t think there’s anyone here except who I’ve come to see.

When he answers the door, he’s fully dressed. I’m somewhat surprised. Usually when he’s lounging around the house he’s doing so in his pyjamas and fluffy dressing gown. But it then occurs to me that he’s now 15, meaning his brand new social life has begun. He’s probably on the way out to see his friends, in fact I’m probably keeping him from doing so.

Episode 8- Sarah Collery Discusses her Single Parent Family.

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of accompanying Sarah on a trip home to Sligo. We had a wonderful few days where her Mam spoiled us with gorgeous food and even some complimentary toiletries. I really enjoyed being in her family home. In this episode, she speaks to me about having a single mother and I was very interested in hearing about it.
